class what did we learn today?

Well... I learned the reason why it is good to wind a hank of yarn into a ball PRIOR to knitting with it..

Ok ok.. i'll admit it, i was lazy..

When it came time to change colours on my mother's charlotte's web shawl, I just grabbed a hank and started knitting, figuring it wouldn't be that difficult to wind it later..

boy was I wrong!

Note to self.. never do that again... ever!

anyway.. so i'm between half to 2/3 of the way done this shawl (knitting that is.. still have to learn to crochet for the details.. )

and then I start on mom's bf extrodinaire's scarf and hat set... not to mention the headband i'm going to knit up for a co worker.. may do that in the next half hour..

'specially seeing as they're so easy to make..

also have to send photos of finished knit a longs to the knit along head honchos, and put pics on my own knit along..

drrr.. so much to do... so many pics to send/post..

but yeah.. I'm praying i get that done... just have to vaccuum my room too. *rolls eyes*

must go now before I add more to my list..

What to make what to make

Ok.. so.. here's the scoop with me recently..

I have been really REALLY expanding my stash (or rather, picking up a skein or two for something, and using half of it and no more.. or not using it at all)

So I currently have a good 3 1/2 drawers in my sewing tower filled with yarn and an entire side of my shelving unit filled with yarn.

I also just spent a good $90 on yarn this weekend (it's for trades so I didn't actually buy yarn, but i'll get it soonish)

My friend Whodini has given me the mandate that after I get these trades I CANNOT buy any more yarn till I've used up a good portion of my stash... (he'd prefer me to get it down to about 1-2 skeins or balls of yarn but I think he'll live with me using up about half... )

So.. I'm currently making the Psychedelic Squares Afghan and using the Garter stitch variation to make pillows out of my very small amounts of spare yarn...

however I've got bigger groups of yarn that I'm hoping I can make something wearable out of... I'll see if I can get pics of some of my yarn..

Oh.. and I've got lots and lots and lots of icky phentex yarn (Not the nice dynasty or merit stuff but the origional) that I bought to make wigs out of and kinda.... passed on that idea...

I'm trying to figure out something I can do with that to get rid of it.. but I think i'm just going to have to give it to a second hand store cuz it really is horrid stuff..

I've got some nice fancy stuff that I'm pondering making a wrap or shrug out of... but i'll have to ponder it.

Anyway, just trying to go through what patterns I have to see what I can do..

I think that's it from me right now.. 'specially since it's 2 am and i'm prattling on..

SEX shopping is fun...

Soooooo... didn't really do much SEX shopping for myself today, but got a good look at some new yarn i want to get..

so.. have some stuff to send off for a couple of trades i've got going on *grin*.

And yes, I do hope to get back on to updating this thing regularly... I just got super busy for a bit there.

Not that anyone really reads this yet..

so.... I have a new costume (needs a few touch ups but hey, I didn't have to make it really) it was made by the lovely Idiosylph and her sister Erikonil, who are both fantastic.

It's Cassandra from Cats, and I'll get pics up soonish.

Also.. finished my first multidirectional scarf, have started my second.... have a psychedelic afghan (and possibly pillows) in the works..

My christmas shirt is... half done (would be more, but i had a needle fall/pulled out... ) and I have to redo the front..

got a bunch of new magazines for knitting and i'm drooling over some of the patterns..

couldn't find the new stitch 'n bitch anywhere! not at chapters, not at the local bookstore... I think fate is telling me i have to wait till Christmas.. >.< drr.. I just wanted to look at it..

I think that's it right now.. I'll get pics up soon, but tis late where I am and yeah... i'm kinda being lazy right now.. but at least I'm posting..

Ok.. so I promised them and here they are!

My lovely baby blanket, it looks decievingly small doesn't it..

here's a picture of me puting my big 9" foot on one corner for reference.

yeah... it's huge... just slightly.

And here is the baby hat modeled by my lovely hand. It's tiny and very VERY easy to knit up.

it only really took me a couple of hours, if that.

Today I was cleaning my room and organizing my costumes. I noticed that my Demeter and Rumpleteazer had become slightly... shall we say.. fragrant.

So I gave them a quick hand wash and draped them over the showercurtain rod to dry.

I have no idea why, but seeing them there amused me greatly and I decided to take a picture of them... it's also quite a good look at the fabric painting on them.

*grin* aren't they cute!

Anyway, that's it from me for now... still plucking away at my multi-di scarf and the etcy warmers... etcy warmers take presidence... however.... i need some relaxing knitting, which is what the scarf's for.

FO'S!!! Whee!

Whee! So I was productive so far this weekend.

Got the baby blanket FINALLY done! and the baby hat to go with it, i'll get pics tomorrow.

So now I'm currently working on the Etcetera Warmer commission I've got from Julianna.. whee, took me ages, but I finally figured out how to do the colours.

And my multi-directional scarf!

After that I've got costumes to work on... I pray I can get it all done in time.

Whee! ok so I was surfing around the net and I noticed that there happen to be a LOT of knit-a-longs happening...

Unfortunately, due to money issues, time, and the fact that I've got TONS of projects to do between now and christmas, I wasn't able to join any of them.

However, I wanted to be part of one... so.... I made one of my own!

It's found here and involves a multi-directional scarf!

It's a really pretty and simple pattern, come check it out and join if you want!

Hee I finished my Kittyville Hat that I got the pattern for out of "Stitch 'n Bitch"... Erin thanks so much for telling me about this book!

so... here's what it looks like now..

Innit it cute? I love the camo yarn!

and a pic of the pompoms at the end of the ties.

Also........

I started my coworker's baby blanket... it's huge! The pattern calls to knit with two strands together, so I tried it, and it didn't look right. That's when I realized that the yarn I was using was thicker than the yarn they used and I only need to use one strand...

The origional try (which took me 2.5 hours to knit a few inches on it) got frogged, and now here's the new improved version...

So yeah.. I think it'll be cute..

I'm attempting crocheting.. it's a little harder than it looks..

but I'm hoping I figure it out soon.. want to make doilies for my mom, gramma and aunts this Christmas.

so... I finally got around to getting some pics done up of my current projects, go me!

so..

this first pic is the front of my backpack, my first real attempt with Fair Isle, but as you can see, i pulled it a bit tight.. oh well.. i have the rest of it done and just need to get it sewn together, maybe i'll do that tonight..

so here's my second project of recent times, and the only one finished... It's my winter kerchief that i'm going to wear at work. It's nice and warm right now, i hope it stays that way during the winter.

And my current project that I love so much! I started it last night and i'm almost done the main part! It's a Kittyville Hat from "Stitch 'n Bitch". I'm loving how the camo pattern is coming out with this yarn! Now I see why Erin loves it so much!

Last but not least, the yarn that's going to be used for a baby blanket and possibly a hat for my pregnant coworker.

Some new work stuff..whee

Welp! so this week my hands have been ITCHING to knit...

I still have to stitch together my backpack (but i've found out I like knitting, not so much with the finishing, but it probably just needs practice)

So this week I knit up a kitschy kerchief from "Stitch 'n Bitch" and it looks pretty cool.. will do a good job of keeping sawdust out of my hair and hopefully keeping my ears warm during the winter at work.

And I went shopping yesterday, got some really nice Camoflauge yarn for a kitty hat that i'm making for me (it's so cool!) and some yarn for a baby blanket i'm making for a pregnant co-worker, as well as some yarn for presents, but since i'm not sure if the recipients of these presents actually read this blog, i'm not stating what they are...

but they'll be spiffy!

Well not much work done this weekend... read my Live journal for why.

But my backpack is all knitted up, I just need to stitch the knitted stuff together, then make the lining.

Trying to decide what I want to knit next.

There's lots of cool patterns in my stitch 'n bitch book.. and i've got a lot of presents to knit.

We'll see... I have to get needles first to start the stuff..

I may work on the next Saffity warmer if I can figure out how I want it to look.

well i got the misto costume done.. just need to brush out the wig and that will take me no time at all.

so for convention (that happens next FRIDAY!!) i have to dye the james wig, spray and support the Jessie wig, braid and add the forehead braid to the birdie wig.. and make birdie's gloves.

I'm definitely going to have to be spirit gummed into the birdie costume.. no way in HELL that thing's gonna stay!

also got a huge portion of my backpack made! the front, back and gusset are all knit up.. just need to do the straps and make the lining. YAY!

i'm going out to dinner tonight.. i'm so burned out from this costuming marathon..

Ok.. in desperate need of a break.

however, i've now got my birdie costume 3/4 of the way done, still need to make the gloves and fix up the wig.

have misto's vest cut out and have to sew that up, and sew the purpley white boa to the unitard... it looked full white in the store, but i can't help but giggle that this misto will have a hint of purple on his bib.....

then when i get home i get to restyle my Jessie wig, and dye the james wig... hopefully manic panic will actually work

as far as knitting goes, I have the front 2 sections and back section of my back pack done, and just need to do the gusset and straps... but the gusset is in garter stitch so i can fly through that.

i just need a chance to veg on the net for a bit... way too much sewing at one time for me..

Yay! costume and skit work

All right.. so to get the ball started I'm putting in an itinerary of sorts of things that I'm doing/need to do/ want to do.

so...

costume stuff:

For the convention next weekend, i've got my birdie (sailor moon) costume to do... i've got it about 10 % done, but it's essentially just a body suit so it shouldn't take long, I also have to braid the wig and add the little braid across the forehead.

my Misto costume, which has the body suit, and wig... i need to make a sparkly vest, plus a white bib, and a tail for him.

Then I have to restyle the Jessie wig (lotsa hairspray) and dye the James wig... I tried Kool-aid but it didn't work, plus it made my room smell bad... so i'm going to try manic panic and pray...

for halloween, I've got a tugger costume that I have to make a wig, vest and mane for (yay for fake fur)

a kids quaxo costume that needs a warmer, and a redo of a wig (cuz i'll now how a kid quaxo and adult misto, thereby needing 2 wigs if both are to be worn at the same time..)

a costume for chris, which was supposed to be cats related, but he doesn't wear unitards well....

and a set of video etcetera warmers for Julianna's friend, which i have to get back to her with definite prices.

then.. for Neko con, i'm so uber lucky that Erikonil and Idiosylph have offered to make me a German Cassandra costume. I'm a bit nervous about wearing it, as Cass isn't one of my fav characters, but I hope I pull her off ok.

and as miscellaneous costumes right now, i'm finally going to make a Saff cat costume, have one warmer done, and a plan..... so we'll see how long it takes to make it.

as far as skits and such go, for now I just have my skit to rehears for next weekend's con. I've got the song cut and everything, but I have to choreograph some parts of it, and practice like crazy.

for knitting, I've got my backpack that I want to get knit up and such so I have something to carry around my projects in.

then i've got christmas presents to start for my friends *grin* I'm liking this knitting thing!

so for now that's what i have planned and started. We'll see how my progress goes in the near future.

Ok.. so this is my new blog. This is hopefully where I'll put my pics of costume progress, knitting progress and all other fun stuff like that.

Convention photos and stuff will still be on my site and on my forums, but this is in progress work.. so yeah.

Gee.. can you tell.. I'm taking a hint from Erin... hmmmmm...
